It’s Official. Richard Should Keep The Beard.

Beard naysayers beware. A new report suggests that beards are a good thing. “While both dead sexy and totally awesome, beards are also a boon to your overall health.”

According to the study there are several benefits to sporting a beard:

  1. Protection from the sun.
  2. Reduced pollen inhalation.
  3. Shielding from the wind which keeps men “looking young and fresh-faced.”
  4. Less acne and possible bacterial infections associated with shaving.

With Richard’s beard soon to make a return for additional filming for The Hobbit, this study seems like a sign! Richard is meant to be bearded. There’s just no arguing with science. 😉

Meet Stick Thorin Oakenshield

Out of the blue I’ve developed this crazy love of making stick figures. It started out as a simple little stick figure hug that I made for someone and it has turned into this need to teach myself to not only to make the stick figures, but also animate them–before anyone starts to worry, I am exaggerating. 😉 But I have made 3 generic stick figure animations and now I’ve moved on to the most ridiculous of all. I’m actually laughing at myself because of how cheesy this is, but I’m still going to share with you all.

Meet Stick Thorin Oakenshield:

Thorin and Stick Thorin

Yeah, I know he doesn’t really look like Richard as Thorin, but I’m still kind of fond of the little guy. Anyway I also decided that Stick Thorin needed to be animated and this is what I came up with:

Stick-Thorin-Twirling

Any guesses which scene inspired this piece of ridiculousness?

Ogle Without Reproach: The Solution

Do you worry that you’re stripping Richard Armitage of his dignity? Do strangers insist that you are somehow harming the man?*  Well, I have the solution for you!

Richard Armitage Statues:

Now you can stare for hours on end and no one will think anything of it. It’s art after all.

A new laptop means…

…new wallpapers! I installed the trial version of Photoshop CS6 Extended on the new laptop and decided to play around with the 3D features. Naturally these graphics had to include Richard Armitage in some way, shape or form. The end product is so far off from what I originally set out to make, but that’s how creativity works for me.

Everyone remembers those wooden letter blocks from their childhood, right? I actually think I still have mine somewhere. All I can say is that they would have been even better if they had looked like this! 😉

Unfortunately the laptop isn’t equipped to run the 3D features very well, which means that Photoshop crashed on me repeatedly. At one point I ended up with wooden blocks hovering all over the place. At first I found it frustrating, but later I thought it was pretty cool looking. So after I finally got the pyramid of blocks all put together, I went back and intentionally made the blocks float at funky angles.  It’s silly, but I like it! 🙂

Do I have room for a plush Thorin?

Life is busy. Not to mention that my beloved St. Louis Cardinals are in the playoffs. Then there is the fact that ItsJSforMe keeps introducing me to books she thinks I’ll like…she has yet to be wrong. There’s also the Twitter campaign attempting to have Richard Armitage cast as Matthew Clairmont in the WB’s A Discovery of Witches. I hadn’t read the book, but that oversight has been rectified.

All of this has left me with little time and to be honest, little inclination for blogging in the last week. Oh, I’ve read other’s blogs, checked out my Twitter feed and Facebook, but I’ve just been uninspired as far as this space goes.

But then I saw the little plush Thorin doll. He’s adorable. I can already imagine snuggling with him in bed. The only problem is, I don’t think he’ll fit!

I think the best explanation is visual:

See my dilemma? I barely fit in the bed, let alone another chaRActer! Maybe he can take up residence on the dresser. I’ll just have to make sure he doesn’t make use of the hookah. 😉

RA should have kids. The question is: with who?

Richard Armitage is one incredibly handsome man. Let’s have a look at the evidence:

Now if that isn’t enough proof, just watch out for the scores of women who swoon, drool, grin uncontrollably, are rendered speechless, experience EOS (exploding ovary syndrome), or any combination of these, each and every time a new photo of him is released. With genetics like his, it would truly be a shame for him not to pass them along. After chatting with some friends I came to the conclusion that RA shouldn’t go the obvious route of having kids with someone who is a knockout like himself. Have you seen some of the poor children who didn’t get mommy and daddy’s good looks (life can be so unfair)? Evidence seems to suggest that often times, when two very attractive people procreate, their good looks cancel each other out. The result is offspring who are significantly less attractive than their parents.  Taking this into consideration, I theorized that RA should find a nice normal woman whose genes will take a back seat to his–it is after all his looks we want to carry on! (And of course, it is for the good of humanity.)

With this theory in hand, I set out on a highly scientific study to validate my supposition.*

First we shall have a look at what Richard Armitage’s children would look like if he procreated with various celebrities. The gender of each child was randomly selected.

Next, we look at what Richard Armitage’s offspring would look like if he procreate with a nice normal woman.** Again, the gender of each child was randomly determined.

My original intent was to give a decided opinion based on the findings. However, given the results and taking into consideration that old saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” polling seems the appropriate next step in this study. Therefore dear reader, it is in your hands to decide. (Besides, the poll results should be fun.)

*In this case, “highly scientific” means that I went to Morph Thing and put in RA’s picture. 😉 All celebrity female images and morphed baby images are courtesy of morphthing.com.

** It should be noted that all of the women–with the exception of one–whose images were used in this “study” were acquired from Google Images. (That one is a fan who graciously volunteered to be part of the study!) The search terms used include: average women, normal women and every day women. The use of these images in no way reflects this author’s opinion on the physical appearance of said women. (Also, the Morph Thing image requirements greatly reduced the number of photos that were viable options for this “study”.)

***Just in case there was any question: I believe in Mr. Armitage’s right to procreate (or not) with whomever he chooses. This is purely for fun.
