Armitage Appreciation

I don’t know about y’all, but I could use a little beauty to appreciate at the moment:

Seriously, just look at all the hard work Richard has put into making his body look so amazing! It is simply made to be admired, no? 😉

Do I have room for a plush Thorin?

Life is busy. Not to mention that my beloved St. Louis Cardinals are in the playoffs. Then there is the fact that ItsJSforMe keeps introducing me to books she thinks I’ll like…she has yet to be wrong. There’s also the Twitter campaign attempting to have Richard Armitage cast as Matthew Clairmont in the WB’s A Discovery of Witches. I hadn’t read the book, but that oversight has been rectified.

All of this has left me with little time and to be honest, little inclination for blogging in the last week. Oh, I’ve read other’s blogs, checked out my Twitter feed and Facebook, but I’ve just been uninspired as far as this space goes.

But then I saw the little plush Thorin doll. He’s adorable. I can already imagine snuggling with him in bed. The only problem is, I don’t think he’ll fit!

I think the best explanation is visual:

See my dilemma? I barely fit in the bed, let alone another chaRActer! Maybe he can take up residence on the dresser. I’ll just have to make sure he doesn’t make use of the hookah. 😉

Hmmm…Stubble and why I like it.

I like everyone else have been thrilled to see all of the pictures coming out surrounding Black Sky. Whether the pics come from a lucky fan who is generous enough to share her experience of meeting Richard Armitage or they come from Todd Garner, I’m a squeeing bundle of happiness.

But there is something missing from those pics. Facial hair. No, I’m not talking about the beard…although if you read here with any kind of regularity you know what a huge fan I am of the beard. No, I’m talking about stubble. I love the stubbled look on Mr. A and it goes beyond just my personal preference to see a little hair on a man’s face.

I knew that my love of the stubble had to do in part with the structural makeup of RA’s face. But couldn’t quite pin down what exactly it was about the stubble that I liked. After chatting with another fan, I have a firmer grasp of what the stubble does for his features.

I’ve diagrammed this to highlight what I see. (Sorry, Serv, this looks a lot like what you do in your anatomy posts, but I didn’t know how else to convey my thoughts.)

While Mr. Armitage has a striking jaw under any circumstance, the stubble makes the lines seem stronger, more defined. The hair on his upper lip, rounding down around his mouth and the hair on the upper portions of his jaw highlight his cheek structure. It provides something of a frame that works to emphasizes his cheek bones.

Let’s contrast this with one of the new photos:

Without any facial hair, his jaw seems to fade into his neck. The striking lines are much less visible. His cheekbones which are highlighted in the first picture, thanks to the stubble, almost just blend in with the rest of his face here. In my opinion, this makes them appear fuller.

Clearly there are many factors that could influence these observations–lighting, angle, a variation in weight, etc…

Mr. A is incredibly attractive either way. But for me, the stubble wins hands down.

Inside John Porter

Yesterday I was looking at Tumblr and I came across this really amazing set of gifs. Curious about how they were made, and liking a challenge, I decided to give making one of my own a try. 🙂 Naturally, I decided to go with a Richard Armitage character, in this case, John Porter. After a lot of trial and error, this is what I came up with.

I can see where making these might become addictive. Oh chaRActers, I think I might have to experiment with more of you! 🙂

Oh and for those of you who read yesterday’s post. I am now the proud aunt of a beautiful little boy! He was born this morning at 10:02!

There’s hot and then there’s hot.

Heat wave anyone? This is the current forecast where I live:

I know I’m not alone, but I got to thinking about what would make dealing with this heat wave more tolerable. What did I come up with? This:

And this:

I can’t speak for anyone else, but a hot, sweaty and half naked John Porter would sure make the heat more palatable for me! 😉

Armitage Mosaics

In case my post about being a polyamorous fangirl didn’t give you a hint, I’ve spent a lot of time lately looking at Tom Hiddleston stuff on the internet. This hasn’t left me much time for Richard Armitage…which isn’t really a big deal since there hasn’t been anything new of late. That being said, today I felt like reconnecting with my main fangirl squeeze. This involved cropping a lot of RA pictures…such a hard task that–looking at picture after picture of Richard Armitage. 😉 Anyway, I found this fun program called AndreaMosaic and have been playing around with it. I still need to play with the advanced features to get the images just so, but I thought I would share what I’ve been doing.

John Porter Sliding Puzzle

I knew that you could make jigsaw puzzles out of photos thanks to various websites. And I really enjoy the RA puzzles on RANet, but today I discovered that you can also make sliding puzzles online. Just another fun way to admire RA, because really, who wouldn’t want the finished product to look like RA or one of his many characters?

Porter TheRApy

I was feeling in need of a little Porter TheRApy this afternoon. May it bring someone besides me a little joy or at the very least some ogling pleasure. 😉

30 Days of Richard Armitage-Day 28

Your favorite character outfit:

When thinking about which was my favorite character outfit, my first thought was, “SCARF!” I actually had to go back and look at pictures of Richard Armitage as John Porter to see what other articles of clothing make up the rest of that outfit (hard work, I know). Apparently there is some khaki and a vest. Whatever, I came to the conclusion that he could be wearing ratty, stained up sweats for all I care! As long as he has that scarf on, it’s my favorite outfit. 🙂
