This time it really is goodbye.

I probably don’t really need to do this post, but I want to go out officially. This has been, for the most part, a wonderful ride. I’ve made some great friends and had tons of fun fangirling over a wonderful actor who seems to be a genuinely good person. I’ve learned some new skills as a result of this whole crazy thing, for which I’ll forever be grateful. But it’s time to move on.

I spent the last month or so waiting for the Anglophile Channel’s interview with Richard Armitage to gauge whether or not I was really done. And I am. While I found the interview entertaining, charming and enlightening at times, the squee factor is gone for me. I realize now that a huge part of why I enjoyed the fan aspect was the boost of “feel good” that it’s always provided. With that gone, there is really no reason to carry on with the blog.

I’ve gone through and deleted the more personal posts from the blog so that I feel secure in leaving the rest of it up for a time. And I’ve decided to leave my Twitter account open as well as the contact page here, should anyone want or need to reach me for any reason.

For those of you who might have hoped I’d eventually finish my North and South fanfic, I’m sorry. It’s just not going to happen. And since that is the case, I’ve gone ahead and taken down the chapters I had posted.

It’s been a pleasure. So to say goodbye I made this. It’s probably the worst fanvid I’ve made, but really I just wanted some pretty pictures to go along with the song.

  1. Oh. Oh. Well, what can I say. All the best for your future endeavours, Jas. I remember you as one of the first people I somehow communicated with when I joined this fandom two years ago. You’ve made it a nice ride for newbies, and thanks for that. – Everything in life changes, and so I am sure you’ll find lots of exciting new things to look forward to. Hope you’ll remember your time in this mad, happy fandom with fondness. All the best!

Love you, girlfriend, but I do understand. The best thing for me about this fandom has been the people I would have never met otherwise and you know you’re one of my favorites. Thank you for always having my back without question. I’ll miss your blog but we’ll always have Twitter. 🙂

  3. Thank you for leaving your blog and Twitter open and available! I will miss you!
All the best wishes to you and don’t forget us left here in RA-fan-unity ;o)
Best wishes on your future way and lots of joy and happiness wherever that way leads you !!!

  4. Best wishes to you. May you find something else equally as wonderful to boost your “feel good” factor should you ever need it. xx

  5. What a bummer! Yours was the very first blog I found when I started lurking about the fandom…. You will be missed. Mad respect for you, Doll! May your next project lead you to as many enjoyable and rewarding experiences as you found while actively participating in this fandom.

  6. I totally understand, Jas. There’s a time to every purpose …

Thanks for being one of the first folks to welcome me here into this fandom. It’s been fun reading and sharing your thoughts. I’ll miss that.

Love you, girlfriend, for all your encouragement all this time. And for everything else … 😉 *hug*

  7. Hi Jas,
Awww. We’ll miss you, but wish you well. I remember many good times with you in AW Chat when I was just starting out in the fandom. And your beautifully poignant farewell video here made me tear up. Thank you for sharing it with us. Wishing you a future filled with joy.
    Hugs and Cheers! Grati ;->
P.S. Your John & Maggie story was really good. So, never say never. Ha!
P.S. I shared your farewell link here with the ladies in RAFN.

Dear Jas. It’s been a pleasure knowing you within the fandom. I, too, have found new skills and made terrific friends as a result of “meeting” Mr. Armitage and I hope we will remain friends away from the fandom. I hope for blissful days ahead for you. *hugs*

  9. giving an official good-bye and providing yourself closure is a very good thing and I am glad you are able to do so. I’ve had to say good-bye to other fandoms/crushes before so I empathize with how hard it is to make that final decision to give him up and everything that goes along with that. I hope you are able to find something in the future that gives you the same feel good feelings 🙂

Goodbye, Jaz, and thank you for the fun. Although it is sad to lose a fellow fan, I can understand that once your enthusiasm wanes, it’s the right thing to do. I know you will go on and sprinkle magic in some other pursuit and another group will be lucky recipients of your talent.

    Take care,

    Bolly

  11. Love the video! Perfect choice of song. We’ll all miss you, Jas. My obsessions have waxed and waned over time, but participating in a fandom is a choice. Hugs and best wishes!!

I didn’t get to know you as I should have, but I want to wish you the best and good luck in discovering a new passion, in a fandom something else.

  14. You have been a wonderful addition to the RA fandom, and you will be missed. I do understand why you feel it is time to move on. I am definitely still a fan of RA, and always will be. However, I am no longer in “teenage crush” mode, so thoughts of RA no longer consumes my days.

Good luck to you in all of your endeavors!

  15. I’ve been some time away from RA – world but I certainly will miss your blog. Wishing you the best.

  16. All the best to you Jas. I’ve enjoyed your blog for the short time I’ve been around. Don’t be a stranger.

I’ve experienced in this fandom (my first) that I always find it rather sad when somebody leaves, esp if this somebody had an interesting blog, which has been around for a while now, and which I quite enjoyed reading and taking part in. Still I understand and I want to thank you Jas. It has all along been fun stopping by here. Best wishes for whatever the future brings you and like Gratiana said: Never say never. Maybe Richard strikes back again….
PS. You know I liked your John & Maggie story!! 😀

  23. Mezz

Jas, I’m grateful for the opportunity to say goodbye, it’s been fun coming here, and to wish you all the very best for the future. What a beautiful song and images with which to finish up – thank you.

  24. I understand completely. Been there, done that. My blog is still open, but I think I’ve only posted 4 times in the last year or something. I’m glad I’ve left it open just in case an idea comes to mind or the fan girl bug bites again, even for just a moment. 🙂 I’ve even forgotten what I wrote in the past and will go back and read it and laugh out loud, and then laugh when I realize I’m cracking myself up again! So think twice before deleting your blog entirely… you may enjoy looking back on it in the future. 🙂
