Zan, I blame you for my interest in this! 😉 We’ve been searching for pictures of the actors who play dwarves in The Hobbit wearing red plaid. It started with Dean, Aidan and Adam. Then we saw the pic of Richard. William was wearing his plaid when the cast exited the Hobbit plane in NZ. And I have no idea where James was, but he’s also wearing a red plaid shirt in one of the vlogs. So to date we’ve spotted 6 of the 13. Perhaps it is the dwarf uniform. 😉
And now we’ve taken to Twitter to ask Jed Brophy, Graham McTavish and Stephen Hunter about their red plaid wearing habits. So far we’ve heard back from two of them!

“Instant?” I went to bed without an answer to my tweet and Zan had to wait about 24 hours for her answer! 😉 Seriously though, how cool is it that you can asks actors questions about silly stuff and they actually respond?
Plaid really is all the rage down there. We’ve found photos of Jed, Stephen and Mark in plaid shirts too. Unfortunately they weren’t red. 😦 *I won’t even mention the stuff we’ve had to sort through in our search…such as one actor in the buff. 😉 )
Well, as opposed to the 4-6 months for traditional “fan mail ” approach it’s pretty fast. 🙂 So plaid is in…how about the unbuttoned look? 😉
Can you imagine if we’d sent traditional fan mail letters asking for pics of them in red plaid? They probably would have thought we were even crazier than they already do! 🙂 So far it seems Richard is the only one sporting the excessively unbuttoned look. Unless you count Tom Hiddleston, but he’s not a dwarf. 😉

I love plaid shirts too, and these guys all happen to wear them well. 🙂 Hopefully we’ll get to see more of the dwarves rocking the red plaid.
What? *innocent look* I just noticed that there seemed to be a bit of a theme with Aidan, Dean and then Adam. Then Richard showed up in one in that Instagram. (It’s his fault! That started the whole “how many Dwarves wear red plaid” question! *giggle*) Now James and William.
I was floored when Graham actually answered me. Also heard from the Dwaliners, offering pics of him in ‘Casualty’ when he wore … wait for it … a red plaid shirt. LOL I’m hoping we can get pic of him IRL, rather than a character role. So cool of Stephen. Go Bombur!
Now for the rest … and I would LOVE to see a group shot of all 13!!!
Yeah, they are going to think we’re totally cracked. Oh well … 😉

Janine on Twitter suggested to Graham that he should spearhead a red plaid dwarf calendar! I for one think that would be a real money maker, and of course then we’d get to see all 13 of them in the shirts! 🙂
They may think we’re cracked, but at least we are cracked in numbers instead of solo. 😉

A Red Plaid Dwarf calendar! Their public take on the one they did for Sir Peter? 😉 That would be very cool. But honestly, I’d settle for a pic of all of them in their shirts taken somewhere in NZ.
You have such a great hubby! I like those pics the Dwaliners sent you. So if we don’t get a more recent picture of him in red plaid we’re good. But I’m still hopeful will get an updated shot. The calendar idea is fun, but I would be more than happy with individual pics of all of them in similar shirts. I guess we’ll just have to see where things go.
Us? Cracked? Why in the world would they think such a thing? When have we ever given them cause to…uh…I think I’ll quit while I’m ahead here and…yeah.

For someone who is normally so “buttoned up” in RL. it was almost a shock to see that Richard is the one showing the most skin!! Not that I’m complaining for one second of course. 😉 A calendar, or even a group shot with each one of them in red plaid would be a huge bonus. I think it would sell like hot cakes and the money could go to a charity of their choice! Of course if they went for the whole calendar idea, me being a Scot, may I suggest that for at least one of the months they would all wear a red tartan KILT instead! 🙂 Now *that* would be worth seeing IMHO!!
Teutcher, I still am rather surprised when I look at that picture of Richard. It isn’t often (if ever) that we seem him sporting a shirt unbuttoned like that. But then I guess we don’t see many real life type of photos of him. I do think they could raise a good amount of money if they did a Dwarves in Plaid Calendar. Many, many people would get on board with the kilt idea too. Some have already been discussing it on Twitter. 😉
Since I have nothing better to do apparently, I’ve keep thinking about that pic…you’re right, not a lot of “caught him out and about” images, but even odds that someone would snap a pic in a fashion studio..wardrobe malfunction, new plaid trend, deliberate fangirl windup? Inquiring minds may never know ;). I like that kilt idea too!

I blame Zan, and the dwarves! If so many of them hadn’t already been photographed in red plaid, we would never have gotten on this kick. 😉 It would be pretty amazing if we could get all 13 in similar shirts! I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed.
