The Magic of Books: Hobbit Wallpaper

I’ve been occupied for several days working on my special project for the big birthday coming up this week. Now that I’ve finished I’m back to having fun with Photoshop.

I came across this tutorial last week for Photoshop that I thought perfectly illustrated the magic of books. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I read a book my mind conjures up images of the characters and locations. Everything comes to life in vivid detail, if only in my mind. As much as I liked the tutorial and end product I decided to apply what I could to making a Hobbit wallpaper. If I were a little boy, this is how the world would look to me while reading the book. 🙂

very cute. good job! PS- at first I thought that troll was a really ugly dog laying on the book, like that makes sense….lol

    • Too funny! I wish he could have been bigger, but I didn’t want to cover the kids whole head with the troll. At least you figured out what it was.

Great job….maybe that’s little Richard devouring the book?

I’m not game to try any of this photoshopping stuff – I spend too much time on this darned compouter as it is! I’ve become addicted to Twitter now! 😀

    • Thanks, Kathryn. You know that hadn’t even occurred to me, but if you want to picture it as little Richard (hehe) go right ahead! 🙂 If you already spend too much time on the computer you don’t need to add a Photoshop addiction to the mix, I agree.

    • That was my first thought too, Kathryn, that the little boy with his nose in the book was Richard…Who knows maybe he did wear glasses when he was young? 🙂

  3. That’s very snazzy! I know just how addictive PSE can be 🙂 As my internet connection is too weak, I can’t watch tutorials online, so I end up just fiddling and trying to figure things out myself. It’s half fun and half Chinese water torture!

That’s a good way to describe learning PSE, agzy!

    • Snazzy, I like that word! PS really is addictive. Have you tried any of the text tutorials, that are typed directions with pictures? Honestly, those are my favorite, because I don’t have to keep pausing and backing up the video.

This is great Jas. I looked up the tutorial, but it’s way beyond my meagre expertise for the time being *sigh*

    • Thanks, Mezz. Truthfully, I’m kind of a “fake it till you make it” kind of girl when it comes to Photoshop. There were a few steps in that tutorial that either didn’t apply to my wallpaper or I just couldn’t get to work right, so I made stuff up as I went.

  5. You did a GREAT job!!!
